How quickly can Dr. Schwartz see my patient?
We prioritize newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. Most newly diagnosed patients are seen within 1-2 weeks. Call us at (770) 962-9977 to discuss timing, and we'll accommodate urgent cases promptly.
Can my patient do an initial virtual consultation?
Yes. For out-of-town patients or when convenient, we offer video consultations. Dr. Schwartz reviews medical records in advance and conducts a full consultation via secure video. In-person consultation is also available.
What imaging do I need to send?
Send pathology report from biopsy and all imaging (mammogram, ultrasound, MRI). Digital copies on CD or secure electronic transfer are preferred. Our office can request imaging from the hospital if your patient doesn't have copies.
Can Dr. Schwartz perform lumpectomy or only mastectomy?
Dr. Schwartz performs both. He specializes in oncoplastic lumpectomy (with reduction techniques for larger removals) and oncoplastic mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. He'll recommend the best approach based on tumor size, location, and patient preference.
What's included in the operative report?
Comprehensive operative reports include cancer margins, tumor size and location, lymph node status, reconstruction method, complications, and clear recommendations for post-operative management and follow-up.
How does Dr. Schwartz coordinate with medical oncology?
We work closely with your medical oncology team. Dr. Schwartz provides clear staging information, pathology, and recommendations for adjuvant therapy. He's available for consultation regarding optimal timing of radiation and chemotherapy relative to surgery.
Can Dr. Schwartz see patients with recurrent or revision cases?
Yes. Dr. Schwartz frequently manages revision cases and recurrent disease. These complex cases benefit from his reconstructive expertise and oncoplastic experience.
